Blockbuster Faculty Wows St. Louis Chapter Healthcare Special Interest Group Conference

 St. Louis, Missouri, May 2016 – The ASA St. Louis Chapter sponsored the ASA Healthcare Special Interest Group (HSIG) two-day, in-person course session: The Four Pillars of the Healthcare  Industry: A Review of the Reimbursement, Regulatory, Competitive, and Technological Environment for Healthcare Valuation", which was held on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7,  2016, at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac. The success of the conference can be contributed to the blockbuster faculty, such as Dr. Geoffrey Ling, the first Director of the Defense Advanced Research  Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technologies Office (BTO), who presented on healthcare technology development, and screened films from his tours in Afghanistan and Iraq,  which illustrated the impact of technology from the battlefield through the development labs of today.

 The other faculty members included Shari Ling, MDthe Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Deputy Chief Medical Officer serving in the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality   (CCSQ), who presented on the reimbursement environment of the healthcare industry in an era of reform. Roger D. Strode, Esq., a partner in the Chicago office of Foley & Lardner LLP,  where he specializes in health law, presented on the impact of competitive forces. Mark L. Mattioli, Esq., a shareholder in the Philadelphia office of Greenberg Taurig, specializing in the areas  of healthcare antitrust and fraud and abuse laws, presented on the regulatory environment of the healthcare industry


The ASA HSIG Program has enrolled over 334 professionals to date, 81 of whom have already completed the requirements for, and have achieved, the “Certificate of Completion” for the ASA HSIG  Program. The ASA HSIG Multidisciplinary Advanced Education in Healthcare Valuation Program consists of four (4) two-hour webinar course sessions, and one (1) in-person course session that  takes place over two (2) days, featuring healthcare industry experts, with five (5) modules.
